KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) announced that Women wing chief Tan Sri Empiang Jabu and Youth wing chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof would not defend their respective posts at the party three-day triennial general meeting from Feb 9 to 11.
Its president Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the party had also decided that the two deputy Presidents, Women wing and Youth wing chiefs posts were not to be contested in the party’s meeting next month.
“During the meeting yesterday the PBB supreme council agreed that the posts of two Deputy Presidents, Women wing and Youth wing chiefs will not be contested,” said Abang Johari, who is also Sarawak Chief Minister, in a press conference after chairing a two-hour supreme council meeting at PBB headquarters in Jalan Bako here.
Also present were two acting Deputy Presidents Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Empiang and Fadillah.
“At present, the Women wing chief is from the Pesaka wing while the Youth wing chief is from the Bumiputera wing, and as both incumbents will not defend their posts, the supreme council also agreed that candidates for both Women and Youth chiefs will be selected from the Bumiputera and the Pesaka wings respectively,” he said.
For the record PBB was formed by combining the Parti Bumiputera and Parti Pesaka in January 1973. --Bernama © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
