Manila, Philippines --- A man claiming to be a fire safety inspector from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Makati City was apprehended by authorities after establishment owners reported of his alleged illegal activities.

The alleged fake inspector, Ronaldo Obediencia, 46, married, jobless and resident of 2823 E. Zobel St. Barangay Poblacion, Makati City was reported to the BFP by Donnabelle Gulle of Tokyo Yakiniku Restaurant, which is located at the ground floor, 7844 Makati Ave. corner Guerrero St. Barangay Poblacion.

Obediencia presented himself as a Fire Safety Inspector and insisted on conducting an inspection. He even presented an identification card from the BFP with a picture.

But after a few minutes of "inspection," the manager and chef of Typhoon Restaurant, which was located in front of Tokyo Yakiniku, informed Gulle that the suspect was the one who demanded from him P3,200 for the fire safety certificate, but failed to return after receiving the money.
Gulle informed their security guards about the "fake" inspector, and they took custody of the suspect and reported him to the BFP.

Another complainant, Elaine Chu Hap, owner of Yalu grocery store which is adjacent to their establishment also complained that the suspect allegedly demanded P2,000 from them as payment for fire safety certificate and a fire extinguisher, but after receiving the money, failed to return.

Charges of Usurpation of Authority and Falsification of Public Documents with NPS NO. XV-05-INQ13D-0223 were filed against Obediencia.
