A recent episode of Family Fortunes made an awkward spelling mistake which seemed to irritate viewers.

The classic family quiz show returned to ITV this autumn with a brand new host in the form of This Morning chef Gino D'Acampo.

Sunday night's episode (October 4) saw the Pfupa family go head to head with the Egan family for the chance to win a £30,000 cash prize. However, a spelling mistake within the opening minutes of the show left fans at home "irrationally angry".

The blunder in question occurred when the families were asked to name what superpower they think people would want to have.

The top answer, guessed immediately, was "invisibility". However, the Family Fortunes spelling of the word was missing an "i" which left the survey board reading "invisiblity" — and viewers were not impressed.

"Anyone else irrationally angry that 'invisibility' is spelt wrong," said one viewer. "Bet whoever did these graphics wishes they were invisible when they realise they spelt it wrong," said another.

"Livid and I didn’t even watch it," added another. "Agggghhhhh my eyes!" said another.

The rest of the episode wasn't without its blunders, as fans were left gobsmacked by the families' collective lack of knowledge of celebrity chefs, while one contestant dubbed Gnarls Barkley singer Cee Lo Green "a rapper".

Family Fortunes continues on Sunday (October 11) on ITV.
