A family of four have been found dead in a suspected murder-suicide in a village in West Sussex.

Sussex Police launched a murder investigation after the bodies of two adults, two children and their pet dog were found at the property on Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the detached house in Woodmancote, near Chichester, at 6.45pm after receiving a report of concerns for the occupants' welfare.

Detectives found the bodies of the family and their dog, and said they were treating the deaths as murder while evidence was gathered.

Chief Superintendent Jerry Westerman said: "This is believed to be an isolated incident contained to one property, and in these early stages of the investigation we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

"Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area as our enquiries continue. Our thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult and challenging time."
