Fans of popular Korean drama “Strong Woman Do Bong-soon” gathered around the Plaza Singapura atrium on Saturday (29 April) to meet main leads Park Hyung-sik and Park Bo-young.

The two were in Singapore to grace the opening ceremony of the Korea Travel Fair 2017, organised by the Korea Tourism Organization (Singapore), and took the opportunity to hold a meet-and-greet their fans.

Space constraints within the mall saw fans gathering all the way up to the fifth level, filling up pockets of space in their attempts to catch a glimpse of the two.

After introducing Hyung-sik and Bo-young on stage, host Ken Low playfully addressed the former as ‘dae-pyo-nim’ (CEO in Korean and also Hyung-sik’s role in the drama).

“Wae yo? (Why)”, Hyung-sik replied in Korean as he played along in character to the delight of the audience.

Love for Singapore food

As usual with celebrities in Singapore, the topic of local food was brought up and Hyung-sik eagerly shared that they had chicken rice for lunch, even standing up from his seat enthusiastically.

Bo-young added that she came back with her sister for a vacation after visiting Singapore in 2015 when she was promoting her previous drama, “Oh My Ghost”.

She also shared her love for kaya toast, laksa and bak kut teh, which prompted the host to encourage Hyung-sik to ask Bo-young for some Singapore food recommendations.

Fun with fans

Several lucky fans also went onstage to receive a cat-panda toy featured in the drama, as well as take photos with both Hyung-sik and Bo-young.

After watching a romantic snippet from the drama, fans started to tease the couple by shouting (in Korean), “Kiss, kiss, kiss!”

Flustered, Bo-young responded to the fans’ request by asking them to watch the drama instead for the kiss scene.

As for their future drama plans, both actors revealed that there were currently no fixed plans and they wished to focus on rest and recovery.

Following the success and conclusion of the drama, it was reported that the drama casts and crew flew to Bali earlier this month for a vacation.

Other stage acts from the fair included a performance of Korean traditional music, B-boys (breakdancing) by Drifterz Crew and a modern theatrical performance by Jeongdong Theatre-Lotus.
