Farmers block highways in Jalandhar, demand hike in sugarcane prices

Jalandhar (Punjab), Aug 21 (ANI): Farmers protested against the Punjab government by blocking roads and highways in Jalandhar on August 21. They are demanding the government to increase the prices of sugarcane. BKU Doaba president Manjit Singh Rai said, “if the government doesn’t listen to our demands till Raksha Bandhan, we will call for a statewide ‘bandh’ in Punjab”. The farmer leader also urged women to come to their protest site and tie them rakhis to show their participation in the struggle.
