Ann Kuroki, 26, of Gooding, Ida. was arrested Friday for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16- or 17-year-old male student. Police began investigating after receiving a tip that Kuroki and the student were involved.

Kuroki coached the boys junior varsity team at Gooding High and now faces felony sexual battery charges, according to local authorities.

Gooding Police Chief Dave Fisher told KMTV Thursday morning that Kuroki has been fired from her job at Gooding High; the school has said they are conducting their own internal investigation. Kuroki is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.

Kuroki is a 2015 graduate of Southern Virginia University where she played on the women’s varsity basketball team. According to her Facebook page’s employment history she was previously a nanny in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Kuroki case is just one of a rash of recent sexual misconduct stories that have risen to awareness in the public eye. In December 2017, 32-year-old english teacher Samantha Ciotta of Beaumont, Calif. was charged with one count of oral copulation with a minor and two counts of sexual intercourse.

The relationship came to light after the student revealed to investigators that they’d had an ongoing sexual relationship. Investigators discovered the teen had bragged about it on social media in a video posted to Snapchat.

In that same video, Ciotta can be seen in the background wearing nothing but a shirt and her underwear. When asked by another student if that was his teacher in the background of the video he reportedly replied: “’Yes … Bro, I’m gettin’ in deep … been f***ing (Ciotta) and getting threesomes for the past couple weeks (at her house).’” It’s unclear if that third partner was another student or an adult.

Ciotta was married with two children at the time. Her husband divorced her and sued for custody of the children once her affair became known.=

In another case an Ohio woman, Darci L. Lake, 23, allegedly had an affair with two boys, ages 14 and 16, over the course of a year. Lake was a substitute teacher at Maysville Local Schools in Zanesville, Ohio. She pled not guilty to nine counts of sexual battery.

Earlier in 2017, a Texas teacher who had an affair with two students was spared having to register as a sex offender after her misconduct came to light. The teacher, Haeli Wey, 28 at the time, pled guilty and was given ten years of probation.
