SINGAPORE — Football fans in Singapore will have to fork out at least $98 to enjoy complete coverage of the 2022 Fifa World Cup Finals, which will kick off in Qatar on 20 November.

In a joint media statement on Sunday (30 October) by telcos Singtel and StarHub as well as national broadcaster Mediacorp, fans will enjoy an early-bird subscription price of $98 before 6 November, after which the subscription will cost $118.

The price is a slight increase from the $94 subscription price ($112 after early-bird promotion) for the 2018 World Cup Finals.

The subscription will allow the viewers to stream the games live or on-demand on any device. They will also be able to catch on-site programming and studio shows with pundits such as Marcel Desailly, Arsene Wenger, Lothar Matthaus, Gabriel Batistuta and Paul Scholes.

Packages for all 64 matches will be made available on StarHub’s TV+ and IPTV platforms (Ch251 and Ch252); Singtel TV, Singtel TV GO (Ch141 and Ch142) and CAST; and Mediacorp’s digital entertainment streaming service meWatch.

Singaporeans will also be able to catch nine key matches on free-to-air television via Mediacorp Ch5, the same number of matches offered for the 2018 World Cup.

Special deals to go with World Cup subscription

Both Singtel and StarHub have also unveiled special deals to go along with their 2022 World Cup subscriptions.

From 30 October to 18 December, Singtel customers who re-contract or sign up for any 24-month Singtel TV plan at $52.90 and above will enjoy the World Cup as a value-added bonus in addition to other channels exclusive to Singtel TV such as Jia Le, e-Le, Astro Ria, Astro Prima, Discovery Channel, Vijay TV, Star Gold and Star Plus.

StarHub customers can sign up for TV+ World Cup Bundle at $52.40 monthly, which grants them viewing access to the World Cup matches as well as StarHub's Premier+, Sports+, Asian+/Entertainment+, Disney+ and Viu Premium (for Asian+ customers)/BBC Player and Curiosity Stream (for Entertainment+ customers).

Meanwhile, new and recontracting HomeHub+ customers who are signing up for the TV+ World Cup Bundle can choose to top up an additional $45.11 monthly to enjoy 1Gbps fibre broadband, Netflix and TV+ Pro box.
