Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's victory in the 2020 election signals several changes in the coming months. But perhaps the cutest update is that the White House will acquire two very good boys: Biden's German Shepherds, Major and Champ.

Following Biden's win, Major continues to make headlines for a very special reason. Read on to learn why, plus everything else we know about Joe and Jill Biden's pet pups—soon to be the White House's First Dogs.

Major is a rescue dog.

Major and Champ will be the first dogs to occupy the White House since their predecessors, the Obamas' pups, Sunny and Bo, left four years ago. Major's new residency is particularly sweet, as the Bidens adopted the German Shepherd in 2018 from the Delaware Humane Association.

Major's new role in the White House has been praised by the executive director of the Delaware Humane Association, Patrick Carroll, who said, per The New York Times, "[Major] shows the real possibilities for what could happen for all the great dogs who need homes out there."

Just before the presidential inauguration, Major's arrival to the White House was celebrated by the Delaware Humane Association with an "indoguration," a virtual fundraiser that gathered over $200,000 for the DHA. Over 7,400 animal lovers tuned in for the event, People reports.

Though there's much buzz about Major being the first rescue to land in the White House, that's not entirely correct. Per CNN, President Lyndon B. Johnson's daughter, Luci, adopted an abandoned pup called Yuki, making that lucky dog the very first rescue pup in the White House.

Later, President Bill Clinton had a rescue cat called Socks.

Champ has been in the White House before.

At two years old, Major is still basically a puppy. Champ, on the other paw, has been with the Bidens a lot longer. Plus, the 12-year-old German Shepherd spent time in Washington when Joe was Barack Obama's VP, meaning Champ's a pro with politics.

As reported by the BBC, Biden's grandchildren named Champ—the moniker's significance referencing a popular speech the president-elect's father used to give. "Any time you get knocked down, champ, get up!" he would say.

We cannot wait to see what Major and Champ do at the White House.
