Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat is making steady progress while he is recovering in hospital, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Monday (30 May).

In a post on his Facebook page, Lee said that he visited Heng in the Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s (TTSH) Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at the National Neuroscience Institute on Monday evening.

Heng collapsed during a Cabinet meeting on 12 May after suffering a stroke and was immediately sent to TTSH.

“Delighted to find him recovering well, and making steady progress. He was fully lucid, communicative, and cheerful,” Lee said.

Lee added that the doctors have advised Heng, who is also MP of Tampines GRC, not to receive visitors yet so that he can get enough rest.

“I told him we had made arrangements to look after his residents in Tampines while he recuperates. He gave me two thumbs up,” Lee said.

“Swee Keat wants to thank everyone for their support. He especially sends his greetings and best wishes to his Tampines residents and volunteers, who have been asking after him.”
