A fire broke out at a building opposite IMM at Jurong East on Thursday morning (4 May).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it had been alerted to a fire at the warehouse and office complex at 30 Toh Guan Road at about 7.40am.

According to SCDF, the fire was the confined to the external facade of the building. Two fire engines, two Red Rhino vehicles, two fire bikes, five support vehicles and two ambulances were deployed to put out the flames.

Fifty people were evacuated from the building. One casualty was rescued from the building, added SCDF. The woman, who is in her 50s, was sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital with burn injuries.

The fire was extinguished at about 9am using three water jets, SCDF said. The building was subsequently “damped down”, in which the burnt surfaces are soaked to prevent the fire from rekindling.
