MIRI: A man created a stir at Desa Bahagia, Permyjaya today, risking his life by dangling from overhead power lines at the residential area.

Residents at the housing estate had alerted the authorities around 5.30am upon noticing the man up to his antics.

The man was garbed in a blue T-shirt and red shorts, which some residents pointed out matched the traditional colours of comic book character Spiderman’s costume.

However, the man was not electrocuted, despite clambering onto the power cables.

His identity was also unknown to the residents. As at press time, his motive for clambering onto the power lines remains a mystery.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Law Poh Kiong said a team was dispatched to the scene upon being alerted to the incident.

He said firemen went up to the rooftops to coax the man down.

“After few minutes of coaxing, the man finally surrendered and came down from the power cables,” said Law.

He said the man has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
