First look: Lenovo A390

Dual core processor, 4 inch display and a lower price point are the forte of the new Lenovo A390.
Lenovo on Monday launched six Android handsets, including the 4 inch display based A390.

During the launch we had the chance to test the Lenovo A390 briefly and here is our first hand experience of the phone.

Looks and Display
Design wise, the Lenovo A390 is not too radical nor too simple. The device itself is sleek, we would not call it slim tough. However, it is quite lightweight that makes it easy to handle and use. The device comes in graphite black colour; while it has a glossy finish front, Lenovo has wisely preferred a polycarbonate body in matte finish for better grip.

The polycarbonate makes it lightweight, durable and immune to dents and bruises during falls to an extent. The handset features chrome finish all around its edges that give it a unique accent as well.

Features
The Lenovo A390 is a dual SIM phone with dual standby feature phone. It has a 4-inch LCD touchscreen which comes with decent 800 x 480 pixel resolution which translates to 233 pixels per inch pixel density. The display is great for almost all the tasks and is also protected by a scratch resistant surface to prevent it from damages from daily use.

The A390 comes preloaded with Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with the Lenovo user interface that makes this device fun to use. There is though a big question market on whether this handset will receive the Android Jelly Bean version in future or not.

The Lenovo A390 comes with a dual core 1 GHz mobile Mediatek processor with a dedicated graphic processor. There is 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of onboard storage in A390 as well. Like in other handsets, it has 32 GB of additional storage slot.

The Lenovo A390 for imaging features a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus minus the LED flash at the back. At the front however the camera has not been added so video calling and video conferencing would be out of the question for the Lenovo A390. There is a smart camera application, with a lot of customizations done for quick access, which is certainly looks better than the stock Android camera app.

The Lenovo A390 features a 1500 mAh battery which is a good considering the 4 inch size of the display and it should provide 1-1.5 days of usage.

All in all, the Lenovo A390 looks good for its price of Rs 8,689. We will try to bring a detailed review of the handset for a comprehensive report on its performance in day to day usage.
