First look: MyPhone A919i Duo quad-core handset

It just hit local store shelves yesterday, but the MyPhone A919i Duo, priced at P9,590, is already getting ready to be tortured in our gadget lab.

Our first impressions? MyPhone's latest entry to the smartphone wars is going to give other devices a good fight.

It switches between apps smoothlyas it should be. After all, the MyPhone A919i Duo is powered by a MediaTek MT6589 chipset with a quad-core Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.2GHz.

We know that synthetic benchmarks don't give you the whole picture, but we ran AnTuTu on the handset, anyway, and got this result:

The body itself looks good, with the slightly curved plastic shell getting an off-white lucent treatment that reminds us of pearls. It's still light even though the 5-inch HD display borders on tablet territory.

As for the MyPhone A919i Duo's 2000mAh battery, it should last about one day with normal usage. We used the handset for 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 15 seconds with Wi-Fi and syncing on, and we were left with 96 percent of juice. "Used" equates to surfing the Internet, checking our email and Twitter and Facebook accounts, and listening to some songs.

Of course, we still have a lot of features to check out, not the least of which are the smartphone's 8- and 2-megapixel cameras, so please check Yahoo! from time to time. In the meantime, you may look at pictures of the rebranded Micromax A116 Canvas HD after the spec sheet.

If there's one car that's particularly sought-after among today's well-heeled car collectors, a Ferrari 250 would be it. Usually it's the GTO variant, like the 1963 that sold for a record $52 million last year. A 250 of any sorts demands unfathomable cash, however, which is why we can but gawk at this 250 Testa Rossa. It's as close as any mere mortal will ever come to owning one.
