The first look at Fast & Furious 9 has hit the internet ahead of the sequel's trailer launch this Friday, and it's a religious experience.

Quite literally.

The poster for the movie has landed, and we have Vin Diesel's Dom Torreto gazing off into the sunset, with a pretty bling-ey crucifix hanging from his rear view.

While some of the wits online have mused that Dom will be racing the Pope in this instalment (finally!), it does make for an intriguing image.

Turns out that it’s the necklace of Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty, which has made an appearance from time to time in the series, so could it be that she’s particularly key to this movie’s plot?

We've also now got the movie's suffix – it will be known as F9: The Fast Saga, though in the past the movies have had a different 'official' name in the UK, where it appears it will be called a rather more sedate The Fast & The Furious 9.

Whatever the case, the unveiling of the movie's trailer this weekend sounds like an involved affair.

It will be launched in Miami – where this weekend's Super Bowl is taking place – on Friday, with an accompanying concert featuring performances from Cardi B, Ozuna, Wiz Khalifa & Charlie Puth and Ludacris, all hosted by F&F actor Tyrese Gibson.

There will be appearances on stage from other stars including Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel and, of course, Vin Diesel.

The last movie found Diesel's Dom and his team tussling with Charlize Theron's cyberterrorist Cipher, though plot-wise we're currently in the dark for the new movie, other than the fact that Dom is now retired and settled down with Letty and their son.

Theron will be back as Cipher, along with Helen Mirren as Magdalene Shaw, while Michael Rooker, John Cena and Cardi B have also joined the cast.

We'll found out more on Friday, and then more still when the movie arrives in the UK on May 22.
