Five arrested over fight at Syed Alwi Road
Five men have been arrested for their suspected involvement in a fight at Syed Alwi Road.
The police were alerted to the fight on 6 March and arrested the men on 9 March, the Singapore Police Force said in a statement on Friday (9 March).
According to preliminary investigations, a few pedestrians were walking along a road when a driver sounded his horn at them. A dispute broke out involving the driver, two passengers in his car and the pedestrians during which blows were exchanged, according to the statement.
The arrests come after a video was posted online that supposedly shows a confrontation between a group of people and the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz in Syed Alwi Road. A man in the video is seen repeatedly hitting the windscreen of the car until it cracks. The car then drives off from the scene.
A 29-year-old man was sent to hospital after being involved in the fight, according to media reports.
