Five arrested for gang-related activities at nightclub

Five men aged between 26 and 32 have been arrested for their suspected involvement in gang-related activities, which led to a brawl at ENVY Dance Club at St James Power Station on Sunday (12 November).

The Singapore Police Force was alerted on Tuesday (14 November) to a video being circulated online showing several men shouting gang-related slogans in ENVY Dance Club at St James Power Station.

Video footage showed a dispute beginning at one end of the club quickly turning into a large-scale clash involving nearly two dozen men. Aside from patrons, a number of men dressed in black suits – believed to be bouncers from the club – can also be seen taking part in the fray.

Five men were arrested within 24 hours of the incident, and investigations are in progress.

On Sunday (12 November), the police also said that one its officers from Clementi Police Division performing a routine patrol at the same location was assaulted by two 23-year-old men, and was also grabbed and punched by a 23-year-old woman. The suspects were arrested for voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant.

Anyone convicted for being a member of an unlawful society faces a fine of up to $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term of up to three years or to both.
