Five-car collision in Breslau sends three to hospital, closes portion of highway 7

Three people are in hospital following a five car collision in Breslau.

A portion of hwy. 7 between Greenhouse Road and Shantz Station was closed for several hours this morning as OPP investigated the incident.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Police say one person was transported to hospital via Ornge air ambulance in critical condition but her injury status has since been downgraded to non-life threatening. The extent of the injuries sustained by the other two individuals involved is unclear.

All lanes on Hwy 7 to be opened shortly, OPP say.

Chinese car sales fall for fifth straight month
BEIJING (Reuters) -Passenger vehicle sales in China fell in August for the fifth straight month, industry data showed on Monday, though sales of all-electric and plug-in hybrid models rose, helped by subsidies for drivers trading in more polluting vehicles. Sales fell 1.1% from the same month a year earlier to 1.92 million vehicles, data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed. New energy vehicle (NEV) sales, however, jumped 43.2% to account for a record 53.5% of total car sales, as local EV champion BYD set a sales record and U.S. rival Tesla had its best month of 2024.
