KUALA TERENGGANU: Five men suspected of gang raping a 15-year-old girl at a house in Kampung Batu Rakit, last Saturday, were remanded for seven days as part of an investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.

If convicted, the detainees could face up to 20 years’ jail and whipping.

A sixth person, the 15-year-old victim's boyfriend, was also remanded for three days as part of the probe.

Kuala Terengganu sessions court registrar Rosila Nik ordered that the detainees be held at the Kuala Terengganu police station.

According to a police source, the incident occurred when the girl went for an outing with her boyfriend at 5.30pm without her parents' knowledge, before she was taken by him to the house in Kampung Batu Rakit, Kuala Nerus.

"She then followed the boy's suggestion to spend the night at the house," the police source said, adding that the girl found another five men were inside the house, including a 41-year-old and his 17-year-old son.

He said the girl was given a room to sleep in by herself, but one of the suspects entered the room and raped her. The suspect warned her not to tell anyone about the incident.

That only marked the beginning of the girl’s nightmarish ordeal.

"All five suspects, aged between 17 and 41, took turns raping her after that," the police source said, adding that the girl was later left alone in the house.

The victim lodged a police report at the Batu Rakit police station the following day and was sent for a medical examination at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital soon after.

The source said following the report, two suspects – the father and son – were picked up at their house in Kampung Batu Rakit on Tuesday, at 10.30am.

The other three, also from the same village, were nabbed from nearby homes on the same day.
