JOHOR BARU: Five teenagers have been nabbed by police for their alleged involvement in a series of burglary in Gelang Patah.

The five suspects, aged between 14 and 17, were rounded up from several locations in Gelang Patah last Sunday after a 30-year old woman lodged a police report.

The woman had related that her home at Gelang Patah Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia was broken into and several valuables were stolen.

Iskandar Puteri police chief Superintendent Noor Hashim Mohammad said the victim had found her house ransacked after the family returned from a holiday.

“The victim said the culprits had broken into the house by breaking the door grille, which was left wide open after fleeing with her valuables,” he said.

Noor Hashim said police found RM600 in cash and a bag when they arrested the five youths.

“We believe we have solved a series of burglaries in the Gelang Patah area hatched by this group of young delinquents with the arrest of the five suspects,” he said.

Noor Hisham said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
