Southampton manager Claude Puel played a prank on James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond before informing his stars of their England call-up.
Saints midfielder Ward-Prowse and winger Redmond were surprise selections by England manager Gareth Southgate this week when he named his squad for the forthcoming internationals against Germany and Lithuania.
Puel couldn't resist teasing Ward-Prowse and Redmond and he pretended to be angry about their efforts in training when he called the uncapped pair into his office before giving them the good news.
"I told them I had a problem with their attitude in the training session, and to ask their opinion," the Frenchman said on Friday.
"Then after I told them the news I said I couldn't understand why.
"But of course it's fantastic for them and for the club. It's a good thing for them and congratulations to them and to the club."
