This summer, indoor cinemas are out and outdoor theaters are in. But not all movies have to be enjoyed from the comfort of your car: Last month, an event called Cinema on the Water, which swapped cars with boats, was held in Paris. Now, a similar type of movie watching experience is sailing into select United States cities so we can join in on the fun.

Known as the Floating Boat Cinema, this unique movie-watching experience allows guests to watch on the water with their friends and family. Each cinema will be composed of 12 to 24 mini boats that will be socially distanced throughout the water. Each boat will hold up to 8 people.

According to the ticket page, Floating Boat Cinemas will dock in Cincinnati, Columbus, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Austin, Pittsburgh, and New York. The events are all free, although tickets are required to reserve a boat. Each floating cinema will last for five consecutive nights in September. Plus, those attending will receive free popcorn, as well as have the opportunity to purchase additional snacks and drinks before setting sail.

Tickets have yet to be released, but you can head to the ticket page to pre-register for tickets and receive email updates when they do become available. Unfortunately, the movie lineup won't be revealed until tickets become available. According to the event page "movies are set to be a mix of golden oldies and new releases."

Tend to get seasick? Walmart is also hosting a summer drive-in series in select store parking lots across the country.
