This is shaping up to be the year of the snake! Snakes are dominating our news cycle and telling us mere humans that summertime is for those who shed their skin. Recently, snakes have shown up in our pool noodles and behind our pool ladders.
Now, the snakes are attempting to get on planes — perhaps to enact the film classic starring Samuel L. Jackson, but more likely just trying to slither away to their summer destination.
OK, so maybe snakes aren’t that savvy, but it does appear that a 5-foot-long boa constrictor was found at Oakland International Airport on Wednesday, and police are searching for the owner.
We are looking to return this 5’ Boa Constrictor to its rightful owner. You left your snake in your rental car at the Oakland Airport. Your snake is safe at our animal services. Please give us a call. pic.twitter.com/TYTaH47N8T

So far, no one has claimed this little limbless baby.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office in Oakland took the snake in after it was left in a rental car at the airport, and it is currently being held at the county’s animal control division.
It is unknown if the snake was read its Miranda rights before being taken into custody. The snake was unavailable for comment, as it is a snake.
Poor baby danger noodle!

If anything, this can serve as a lesson in more ways than one. First, make sure you take those rental car inspections seriously. Always check for scratches, dents, weird smells, and, of course, snakes. Second, never leave your pet behind — that’s so sad.
According to the East Bay Times, the deputy who found the snake is an “enthusiast about snakes,” so we can trust that the reptile, who kills its prey by hugging it too hard, is in good hands.
Hopefully, this snake can find its way back home quickly… Wait, what if the snake’s name is Kevin, and this is just an elaborate plot for a reboot of the Home Alone franchise? Is Catherine O’Hara sitting on the plane thinking, “What else could we be forgetting … Kevin!”
