Former Formula 1 boss and business magnate Bernie Eccleston is expecting his fourth child at the age of 89. Congratulations, Bernie!

Eccleston, who stepped down as chief executive of the Formula One Group back in 2017, revealed that he and his wife Fabiana Flosi are set to welcome a baby boy some time this summer.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Bernie joked that becoming a father at 89 was not a big deal. "There's nothing that unusual is there?" he said. "I haven't had a job for a little while so I have had plenty of time to practise!"

Bernie, who has three children from two previous marriages, said that his wife Fabiana was really excited at the prospect of becoming a mum. "She is thrilled," he said. "[But] we're not sure what all the fuss is about!

"I'm very happy and happy really for my wife, she's been looking forward to this happening for quite a few years, so I'm happy she'll have someone after I'm gone."

Although most would be daunted by becoming a 90-year-old parent, Bernie insisted that the new arrival will be "fun". "I don't see any dramas," he added. "I've got grandchildren and I'm looking forward to having another baby."

Bernie, who married Fabiana back in 2012, already has three children – daughter Deborah, from his first marriage, and Tamara and Petra from his second marriage to Slavica Radić. Eccleston also has five grandchildren.
