Former Liverpool star John Arne Riise and daughter 'fine' and out of hospital after car accident in Norway

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise has confirmed that he and his daughter were involved in a car accident on Tuesday.

But, in a post on his personal Instagram page, the Norwegian declared that both were “fine” after an overnight stay in hospital.

Riise wrote: “I can confirm that my daughter and myself were involved in a car accident last night.

“We are both fine and out of hospital after spending the night there for check up. Thank you all for the messages.”

News of Riise’s accident, which took place between Alesund and Tonberg in Norway, was first shared by his agent on Wednesday morning.

Erland Bakke told Dagbladet: “He drove her home to Alesund, and just before they arrived, something on the road caused John Arne Riise to quickly turn left, and drive into the road rails.

“Both are well under the circumstances, they will remain in the hospital until this morning.”

Local police later confirmed that they were investigating an incident, with Sindre Molnes saying: “We have some idea of ​​what has happened, but we must first hear from those involved.”

Reds supporters will be relieved to hear good news on the condition of a player who spent seven memorable years at Anfield.

Riise was part of the team that won the Champions League Final in miraculous circumstances back in 2005.

He also won the FA Cup, League Cup and Uefa Super Cup twice during his time on Merseyside.
