'Fortnite' decorates for holidays with Christmas trees, stockings and presents
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in "Fortnite."
The mega-popular online multiplayer game has dotted its maps with Christmas trees, all part of a series of challenges that gain players special holiday gifts.
The game's maker, Epic Games, announced its Winterfest campaign last week with 14 days of presents for players. When players get into the game's lobby, they find a "brand new snowflake tab" to click on and be transported to the Winterfest Lodge.
There players can daily unwrap a new present, including outfits, gliders and other goodies. In their stockings await challenges for additional prizes.

The latest challenge involves dancing in front of five Christmas trees in the game to unlock a present. "You should have no trouble finding the Christmas Trees and then dancing in front of them," wrote Erik Kain about the "Fortnite" festivities on Forbes.com. "Each one is surrounded by decorative presents and several loot chests so they make decent places to land as well."

The event, which runs through Jan. 7, is just the most recent within "Fortnite." On Dec. 14, players got to watch and listen to a "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" event, which had to be temporarily delayed because demand kept some players from getting in.
