Four foreign women were arrested on Thursday (May 4) in Singapore for their suspected involvement in a vice syndicate that charged at least $500 per hour for sexual services.

The women, aged between 26 and 39, are three Russians and an Uzbek. They were arrested after officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted simultaneous raids in the vicinity of Raffles Boulevard, Tanjong Katong Road and Cairnhill Road.

The women allegedly made use of their stay in Singapore on valid work passes to commit the vice-related offences.

Preliminary investigations by the police showed that the syndicate advertised the services on at least 10 different online platforms, claiming to provide high-class escort services. Potential customers were able to book the girls’ services through mobile phone numbers or email addresses provided on the websites.

One of the women will be charged in court with offences under the Women’s Charter on Saturday (6 May). Investigations for the other three are still ongoing.

Under the Women’s Charter, any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part of the earnings of the prostitution of another person, faces a jail term of up to five years and a maximum fine of $10,000.
