Four Myanmar men nabbed for attempting to illegally enter M'sia

BUKIT KAYU HITAM: Four Myanmar men who attempted to enter the country illegal were detained by the Malaysian Army personnel near Bukit Kayu Hitam Pos 1 yesterday. The 6th Infantry Brigade commander, Brigadier General Datuk Abdul Aziz Ismail, said the men aged between 23 and 31 were arrested by the 6th Battalion Royal Malay Regiment (6 RAMD) personnel on patrol at 6.30am. “The team detected the group of men coming from the border. Acting on suspicion, the personnel carried out an ambush and detained the men. “Further checks revealed that the group did not have valid travel documents,” he said in a statement on Tuesday. Abdul Aziz said the team also confiscated bags containing necessity goods. He said the foreigners were brought to the Armed Forces Medical Centre before handed to Bukit Kayu Hitam police station for further action. “We will continue being committed in enhancing the Malaysia-Thailand border security to curb smuggling activities and illegal entry,” he added. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
