IPOH, Feb 17 — A four-year-old boy died and his brother was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) after they were discovered in a tub filled with water at their grandparents’ house in Jelapang here yesterday morning.

In the 10am incident, the deceased Alif Rizqi Muhammad Redzuan and his brother Muhammad Aqil Rayyan Muhammad Redzuan were found in the tub filled with 0.6 metres of water by their grandmother.

District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Ali Tamby said the siblings were rushed to HRPB by their father.

“The siblings were given respiratory assistance, but the doctor who treated Alif Rizqi confirmed his death at around 10.15am, while his brother admitted in the ICU,” he said in a WhatsApp message.

Mohd Ali said the post-mortem report confirmed that the cause of the death was due to drowning.

“At the time of the incident, the family members were busy preparing breakfast and lunch while two other elder siblings of the victim were sleeping.

“Only Alif Rizqi, third among his sibling, and his younger brother Muhammad Aqil Rayyan were playing near the tub,” he said.

He said the grandmother was only aware of the incident after noticing that the noisy children were suddenly silent.

Mohd Ali said the case has been classified as sudden death for the time period and he added no arrest has been made.
