Four stars bag Most Outstanding Asian Artists awards

12 Nov – Actress-turned-director Zhao Wei, actors Wu Xiubo and Donnie Yen, as well as Miriam Yeung were named the winners of the Most Outstanding Asian Artists awards at the 4th New York Chinese Film Festival.

Xinhua website reported that at the festival co-organised by State Administration of Radio, Movie Channel, as well as the United States and China Art Association, which was held on 7 November, four Asian stars were chosen to be awarded for their contributions in Chinese films.

Speaking to the media after the awards, Miriam revealed that the award was a shot of confidence for her, while "So Young" director, Zhao Wei expressed, "I really like movies. I have a life-long career in films whether as an actress or a director. Thank you for giving me so much encouragement, and I will continue to make more films."

Meanwhile, Wu Xiubo reminisced about his first visit to New York, saying, "Six years ago, I came here to shoot a movie in Central Park. I went there today with a different state of mind. A movie can really take you far."

Donnie, who attended the film festival with his wife Cissy Wang, was touched that the festival recognised his work, and expressed his hopes to see his martial arts films receive more recognition internationally in future.
