Four suspected drug abusers detained by police

SARATOK : Police arrested four suspected drug abusers, who were stopped during a police raid in front of a bank here last night. The men aged 19 to 36 were stopped by police while they were in a Perodua Kelisa car. Police said the four men were acting in a suspicious manner and this prompted them to be stopped. Saratok district police chief, Deputy Superintendent Mordani Tanin said during the 10.30am raid, policemen found a transparent plastic packet hidden under the front passenger seat of the car. The packet contained 30 smaller packets filled with white subtance believed to be syabu weighing a total of 17g. "Checks on the car boot led to the discovery of a parang. Police are ascertaining why the four of them were carrying the sharp object,” he said. Police also seized a waist pouch, RM4,400, a set of keys and the car used by the four men. All the items were sent to the Saratok police station, while the case was refered to the Betong district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.
