Fox Sports secures English TV for Copa America Centenario

"We are incredibly excited to add the Copa America Centenario to our ever-expanding portfolio of elite, world-class soccer events," said David Nathanson, FOX Sports head of business operations

Copa America Centenario's English television rights were secured Wednesday by Fox Sports, with matches appearing on Fox's main network and two sports channels, tournament organizers announced. All 32 matches will be broadcast live from June 3-26 across 10 US venues as the special 16-team event featuring South America's 10 national teams and six more from North America will be contested. No announcement was made of the pricetag for the rights, which also include digital coverage. "We are incredibly excited to add the Copa America Centenario to our ever-expanding portfolio of elite, world-class soccer events," said David Nathanson, FOX Sports head of business operations. Staged outside of South America for the first time, the tournament is expected to feature such stars as Lionel Messi, Neymar, David Luiz, James Rodriguez and Kaka. Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and the United States are the top seeds in four opening-round groups. A February 21 draw in New York will decide the allocation of the other squads, which include Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela from South America plus Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica and Panama from North America.
