France was surprised, it’s breach of trust between allies: French Envoy on AUKUS row

New Delhi, Sep 28 (ANI): On France's 'sharp reaction' to AUKUS, French Ambassador Emmanuel Lenain on September 28 stated that within European Union, the country is most involved in Pacific and should not be excluded. He said, “My country was surprised by the method, it is breach of trust between allies. When you want to face an issue, you try to rally like-minded nations. Don’t exclude a major partner. My country, within European Union, is most involved in Pacific. We feel we are also a country of Pacific. We're India's neighbour, we have territories, we have second exclusive economic zone worldwide, we have 2 million French people in the area. Compared to India its few but for France its quiet something and we've 7000 troops in region.”AUKUS is a trilateral security pact between Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, signed on September 15, 2021.
