KUANTAN: PKR member of Parliament for Kuantan, Fuziah Salleh is prepared to vacate her seat, to enable party de-factor leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest in Pahang capital in his return to Parliament.

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said many PKR elected representatives had indicated that they were prepared to vacate their seats for the in-coming party president to contest and eventually be appointed as Prime Minister.

“This matter (to vacate a Parliament seat for Anwar) would be undertaken with due consideration to enable Anwar’s to return to Parliament.

“I am willing to vacate my (Parliament) seat ... if he (Anwar) is willing to come to Kuantan. There is no problem for me, as this is what we had struggled for all this while”, she said after attending the Pahang 2018 Maal Hijrah celebration at the Sultan Ahmad Shah 1 state mosque, here today.

Fuziah was responding to speculations that a Parliament seat would be vacated this week to enable Anwar to contest, which is said to be in preparation for him in becoming the nation’s next Prime Minister.

Where Anwar will contest, is likely to be known tomorrow, when the former four term Permatang Pauh member of Parliament returns from Hong Kong.

PKR secretary-general earlier today said the seat where Anwar will contest will be announced tomorrow at a press conference. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
