G-Startup Worldwide, Kejora Group join forces to bring Indonesian startup to Silicon Valley

The G-Startup Jakarta event gives opportunities for participants to receive mentorship from Google Launchpad

Global startup competition G-Startup Worldwide and Indonesian venture capital firm Kejora Group today announced a partnership to host the G-Startup Jakarta competition, as part of the two companies’ aim to “further accelerate the startup ecosystem in Southeast Asia”.

The pitching event will be held on August 5, with the winning teams to be announced on August 10.

The competition will select 12 companies who will receive mentorship from the Google Launchpad initiative. The winner will be flown to Silicon Valley for a week to compete in the G-Startup Worldwide Global Finals and will have the opportunity to pitch for a US$250,000 investment prize (for first place winner) and US$120,000 (for second place winner).

Apart from that, they will also have the opportunity to participate in a bootcamp at Google’s headquarters, among many other prizes.

Participants will be judged by the likes of Andy Zain (Kejora Group), William Eka (Skystar Ventures), Donald Wihardja (Convergence Ventures), Andreas Surya (Ideabox), Aryo Ariotedjo (Grupara Inc.) and Izak Jenie (Founder Institute).

Aspiring participants can start applying for this year’s event up until August 1. To be eligible to apply, a startup needs to have raise less than US$1.5 million.

Apart from Jakarta, G-Startup is also opening applications for its Sao Paulo, Silicon Valley, Bangalore, Taipei, and Seoul branches. According to a statement by G-Startup, the programme’s alumni have raised over US$28 billion in total.
