Galaxy Racer emerged victorious at the 2021 VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Stage 3 Challengers 2 tournament for the Philippines, capping off their dominant run through the event with a 3-1 victory over SV Empire in the grand finals on Sunday (25 July).

Galaxy Racer were directly seeded to the latest VCT Challengers event for the Philippines after falling to Bren Esports in the grand finals of Challengers 1 earlier this month.

Galaxy Racer made short work of qualifier teams Sierra Esports Atlas and Alpha Esports Pro to reach their second-straight VCT Challengers grand finals, where they would face a surging SV Empire squad that swept through UCFC Esports and Oasis Gaming to earn the right to face them.

Galaxy Racer started the finals strong by dominating the first half of game one in Split, 10-2, to take a 13-6 victory. They continued that dominance in the first half of game two in Breeze and took a 8-4 round lead, but SV Empire bounced back and went on a 9-2 run in the second half to steal away a win.

Game three on Icebox was looking to be another tightly-contested affair as Galaxy Racer only had a 7-5 lead by halftime, but they went out guns blazing after the side switch to eventually win the map 13-6 and take a commanding 2-1 series lead.

Sensing blood in the water, Galaxy Racer took full control of the first half of game four in Ascent to the tune of a 9-3 round lead. A resilient SV Empire managed to take six rounds after the side switch, but Galaxy Racer could not be denied as they took the four rounds they needed to win the game, 13-9, and claim the Philippines' Stage 3 Challengers 2 championship.

With their victory, Galaxy Racer claimed the grand prize of PH₱100,000 (or just under US$2,000) as well as a spot in the 2021 VCT Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs for Southeast Asia in August, where the region will determine its two representatives at the VCT Stage 3 Masters tournament in Berlin, Germany in September.

Meanwhle, SV Empire took home PH₱60,000 (or just under US$1,200) in consolation. They, along with third and fourth-placed teams Oasis Gaming and Alpha Esports Pro, also earned spots in the Stage 3 Challengers 3 event for the Philippines in early August where a last chance to qualify for Southeast Asia's Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs await.
