Gatherings in groups of 8 likely from end-July: Lawrence Wong
SINGAPORE — From the end of this month, when at least half of the population in Singapore are likely to have completed the full vaccination regimen, social gatherings in groups of eight may be allowed, said Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, co-chair of the multi-ministry taskforce (MTF) on COVID-19, on Wednesday (7 July).
This is provided the COVID situation remains stable, added Wong.
For higher-risk, indoor mask-off activities such as dining in at F&B outlets, a group size of up to eight persons may be allowed only for fully vaccinated persons. Otherwise, the group size will remain at five persons.
Meanwhile, up to 500 fully vaccinated persons may be allowed in cinemas, congregational worship, MICE events, live performances, spectator sports and wedding solemnisations.
Work-from-home will continue to remain the default, but more may be allowed to return to the workplace based on the percentage of total employees who are fully vaccinated.
Differentiated safe management measures (SMM) will also be introduced for vaccinated persons. This will allow individuals who have received the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to participate in more community and economic activities.
The MTF also encouraged those who have their second dose appointments scheduled six to eight weeks from their first dose, to bring forward their second dose appointments to four weeks.
It stressed that any further steps towards reopening will only be possible when more of the population is protected through vaccination.
