GE2015: Flower, galloping horse among symbols to be seen on ballot paper
When Radin Mas and Bukit Batok residents head to the voting booth, they will see a flower symbol and a horse symbol respectively.
These symbols were chosen by Radin Mas independent candidate Han Hui Hui and Bukit Batok SMC's Samir Salim out of a list of provided by the Elections Department.
On 28 August, the Elections Department issued a set of 15 approved symbols that included a helicopter, a shop and a fan. It dropped some, like the chair and heart, from the previous general election.
According to Samir Salim, he chose the horse because it was a symbol of “moving forward”.
Han Hui Hui was not present to speak to the media after her nomination form was successfully submitted.
Independent candidates cannot submit their own symbol and are required to choose from the 15 symbols provided.
