GE2015: PAP unveils two new faces for Sembawang GRC team
The People’s Action Party (PAP) on Friday unveiled its candidates for the five-seat Sembawang GRC for the next general election.
Amrin Amin, 35, a corporate lawyer, and Ong Ye Kung, 45, director of group strategy at Keppel Corporation, were introduced as new faces at the ruling party's press conference at the Sunshine Welfare Action Mission Home Friday morning.
Ong was part of the team that contested in Aljunied GRC in the 2011 general elections and lost to the Workers’ Party.
Here is Amrin's introduction in his own words:
The other candidates in the GRC are National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan, eye surgeon Lim Week Kiak and lawyer Vikram Nair.
Khaw has been the MP for Sembawang since 2006 and Nair since 2011. Lim was a former MP with Nee Soon GRC. After the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee released its report this year, Lim’s ward was added to Sembawang.
MPs Ellen Lee and Hawazi Daipi are retiring. Hawazi spent 19 years in politics, while Lee was an MP with Sembawang GRC since 2006.
Sembawang GRC now includes 53,177 new voters formerly under Nee Soon GRC.
