SingFirst unveils second batch of candidates for GE2015

Singaporeans First (SingFirst) has unveiled its second batch of candidates to contest in next month’s election.

At a media conference on Saturday (29 Aug), the opposition party introduced its latest five candidates (left to right in photo): Tan Peng Ann, social entrepreneur and retired colonel; Wong Soon Hong, owner of a chemical and marine hardware business; Ang Yong Guan, SingFirst Chairman and psychiatrist; Foo Ming Jin David, chemist; and Sukdeu Singh, former police officer and humanitarian. They are expected to contest in the Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GRC).

Campaigning on the slogan “Restore our Nation”, SingFirst unveiled its first batch of candidates on Friday (28 Aug). They are Tan Jee Say, party secretary-general and former presidential candidate; Melvyn Chiu Weng Hoe, sales executive; Fahmi Rais, media consultant; Chirag Desai, market risk manager; and Wong Chee Wai, IT consultant. They are expected to contest in the Tanjong Pagar GRC.

SingFirst has said it will field a total of 10 candidates for the election.

The People’s Action Party’s Jurong GRC team comprises Tharman Shanmugaratnam, anchor minister; Desmond Lee, lawyer; Ang Wei Neng, senior executive at SBS Transit; Rahayu Mazam, lawyer; and Tan Wu Meng, oncologist .

The ruling party’s Tanjong Pagar GRC team comprises Chan Chun Sing, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) secretary-general; Indranee Rajah, Law and Education ministries Senior Minister of State; Chia Shi-Lu, surgeon; Joan Pereira, Temasek Cares assistant general manager; and Melvin Yong, former Assistant Commissioner of Police.
