Eat well before the election rallies, with this handy hawker guide. These popular foodie finds in the North have been picked, based on their proximity to the allocated rally venues.

While it’s far from exhaustive, this foodie guide can be used as a starting point to planning your foodie journeys to these rally sites. Are your favourite hawker stalls on this list?

Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC
Venue 1: Choa Chu Kang Stadium, 1 Choa Chu Kang Street 53 (Choa Chu Kang or Yew Tee MRT).
Park at: Choa Chu Kang Stadium/ Sports Hall

Where to eat: Feng Zhen Lor Mee at 787B Choa Chu Kang Drive for noodles soaked in starchy gravy and topped with fish slices. According to food blogger Dr Leslie Tay (of Ieatishootipost), the stall was originally located at Jurong West Blk 503, where it stayed for 37 years.

If you’ve the time, try Ah Boy Chicken Rice at 678A Choa Chu Kang Crescent. Local celebrity chef Eric Teo raved about its tender chicken and zesty chili sauce on Facebook nearly two years ago.

Venue 2: Woodlands Stadium, 1 Woodlands Street 12 (Marsiling MRT)
Park at: Woodlands Stadium/ Sports Hall

Where to eat: The original Hong Ji Claypot Bak Kut Teh at 19 Marsiling Lane, which is known for its Malaysian-style herbal pork broth; this hawker has since set up three other stalls at Ang Mo Kio, Geylang and Sin Ming.

Nee Soon GRC
Venue 1: Yishun Stadium, 103 Yishun Avenue 1 (Khatib MRT)
Park at: Yishun Stadium or Yishun Sports Hall

Where to eat: Slurp down a bowl of soupy Teochew-style porridge, to go with slides like the popular braised pork and spicy clams from Soon Kee Teochew Muay at 33 Sembawang Road.

Venue 2: Field in front of Blk 389 Yishun Avenue 6 (Yishun MRT)
Park at: Blk 387 Yishun Ring Road, HDB Yishun Multi Storey Car Park or HDB Blossom Spring @ Yishun Multi Storey Carpark

Where to eat: Chong Pang Market Food Centre at 104 Yishun Road. Popular dishes at the oft-crowded hawker centre include braised duck rice and fishball noodles.

Sembawang GRC
Venue 1: Field opposite Blk 540 Woodlands Drive 16 (Woodlands MRT)
Park at: HDB carpark Blk 540 Woodlands Drive 16

Where to eat: If you’ve the time, head over to 834 Eating House at 834 Woodlands Street 83 for ‘zi char’ stir fried dishes and seafood; about 10 minutes away by bus. Users of food and restaurant e-guide Openrice picked out the salted egg crab and fried shrimp dates as the must-tries

Venue 2: Field opposite Blk 687A Woodlands Drive 75 (Admiralty MRT)
Park at: HDB carpark Blk 687A Woodlands Drive 75

Where to eat: 688 Eating House at Woodlands Drive 75, which is about a few minutes’ walk away. The zi char stall at this hawker centre is said to be a go-to for late night suppers; popular picks on location based app Foursquare include prawn paste chicken, marmite chicken and bean sauce fish head.
