Gerakan on PPBM joining Pakatan: Opposition's hypocrisy proven again

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan vice-president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau said the Opposition’s hypocrisy has been proven yet again with the official participation of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) in Pakatan Harapan.

He said PPBM, together with DAP, PKR and Amanah, have shown that they look only after their own interest and could not care less about principles.

“They are not serving the people, and their selfish nature will be detrimental to the nation.

“The Opposition are a bunch of power-hungry political parties who will only stall the country's progress,” he said in a statement today.

Lau pointed out that PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad have never exactly seen eye to eye during their time in Barisan Nasional.

At the same time, he said it is bewildering for PKR to easily forget what Dr Mahathir had done to their de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, referring to the latter’s dismissal as deputy prime minister and imprisonment for sodomy.

“A responsible political party with dignity can accept defeat in the polls, but not the forsaking of its principles.

"Any political party without principles is rudderless, passive and will be a bane to the people,” he added.

Earlier today, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu issued a joint statement welcoming PPBM into the Opposition coalition.
