GEORGETOWN: Penang Gerakan today said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was trying to drag his own trial by attempting to declare Section 62 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act as unconstitutional.
Its acting Youth chief Jason Loo said the move showed that Lim was trying to go back on his own word as a member of the parliament by challenging the Act.
"He cannot have a second bite of the cherry. When the bill was introduced, read and passed in Parliament, he did not say anything," he said, adding that when the same Act was used against former Selangor menteri besar Mohamad Khir Toyo, Lim and the rest of the DAP leadership did not questioned it.
"But today, when the Act applies to him, he starts challenging it."
Loo said Gerakan suspects that Lim was trying to avoid trial and prosecution before the 14th General Election.
