Every year, the people (and tourists) of Thailand bring out their buckets and water guns to celebrate the Thai new year, or Songkran.

And while the period was referred to in Thai media as “seven dangerous days”, owing to the large volume of travel and resultant traffic accident deaths, it is more fondly remembered for its colourful scenes of raucous celebration. (All photos Reuters)
