A third Bangladeshi man will be charged for his involvement in an incident that resulted in the death of a 42-year-old Singaporean man at Geylang Lorong 24A on Sunday (9 July).

Police said the 29-year-old suspect – the fourth to be arrested in connection with the case – will be charged with murder in court on Saturday (15 July). If convicted, he faces the death penalty.

Another Bangladeshi man was charged with murder on Friday (14 July) for his alleged role in the incident. Mollah Hassan, 31, had allegedly murdered Singaporean Lim Leong Tat between 6.50am and 7.43am.

Media reports said that the victim was found motionless in the back alley Geylang Lorong 24A and had injures to his head and upper body. He was pronounced dead at 8:05am.

The first Bangladeshi to be charged in the case was 35-year-old Rana Sohel. On Tuesday, he was charged with one count of voluntarily causing grievous hurt. He had allegedly punched Lim on his face and slammed his head against the pavement.

Another suspect, a 34-year-old Bangladeshi, has been arrested and is still being investigated.
