Gigi Hadid Won’t Be Part of the Jury on the Harvey Weinstein Case

• Supermodel Gigi Hadid was among the potential jurors who will be deciding the Harvey Weinstein case in New York City.

• Hadid previously posted on her Instagram Story about how she was excited to be summoned for jury duty.

Gigi Hadid was officially dismissed today as a potential juror in the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault case, CNN reports.

The supermodel was initially selected as a possible juror on Monday, along with 119 other prospective candidates, and was seen leaving the Manhattan courtroom on the fifth day of deliberations, according to Page Six and Variety. However, Weinstein's attorney, Arthur Aidala, challenged Hadid's ability to be impartial in the case since she is friends with fellow model Cara Delevingne, one of Weinstein's accusers, according to Page Six. Hadid and approximately 60 others were subsequently dismissed.

Page Six previously reported that, on Hadid's first appearance at the Manhattan courtroom, Justice James Burke asked the potential jurors, “Anyone believe you know me, the defendant or anyone of the lawyers?”

Hadid raised her hand, identified herself as Jelena Hadid, and said, “I have met the defendant.”

Burke continued, “Do you think you can be a fair and impartial juror in this case?” She affirmed she could.

Afterward, the justice continued to read a list of potential witnesses in the case, including Salma Hayek and Ryan Beatty. He asked if any of the potential jurors knew these witnesses, to which Hadid again raised her hand.

“I have met Salma Hayek and possibly Ryan Beatty," she reportedly said. Burke asked if meeting them would interfere with her ability to be impartial as a juror. “I think I’m still able to keep an open mind on the facts,” she answered.

Page Six additionally reported that after many jurors were dismissed, the model stayed behind to fill out a questionnaire. Hadid was ordered to return. If she was selected, she would have been among 12 jurors and six alternates in the case.

Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood mogul, is charged with two counts of predatory sex assault, two counts of rape, and one count of criminal sex act, stemming from the allegations of three women.

Hadid previously posted on her Instagram Story that she was excited for her jury summons.

“I’ve been summoned for jury duty y’all,” she wrote. “I’d like to thank the state of New York.”
