KUALA LUMPUR: After Bangsar, Bukit Bintang, and Universiti, Glenmarie became the fourth Light Rail Transit (LRT) station to be adopted under the Station Naming Rights programme.
While Bangsar is now Bank Rakyat-Bangsar LRT Station, Bukit Bintang known as AirAsia-Bukit Bintang Monorail Station, and Universiti called KL Gateway-Universiti LRT station; Glenmarie will now be rebranded CGC-Glenmarie LRT station.
Prasarana Integrated Development Sdn Bhd (PRIDE), a subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd had recently accorded the naming rights of the Glenmarie LRT station to Credit Guarantee Corp Malaysia Bhd (CGC).
This eye-catching branding programme is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia which allows brand owners to bid for the rights to have an LRT station, in its name.
The CGC-Glenmarie LRT Station is a new station under the LRT Line Extension Project that was officially opened in June 2016.
As brand owner, CGC had fully utilised the interior of the station for its advertising needs. As part of its contract with PRIDE, CGC is also offering a retail kiosk.
Congratulating CGC on its venture, PRIDE is confident that the company will reap in better benefits and mileage through this investment.
“The CGC-Glenmarie Station has a massive park and ride facility and is strategically connected to the LRT3. Upon completion, the LRT3 will be connected to the Bandar Utama MRT Station,” said PRIDE chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zahir Zahur Hussain.
CGC president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak said greater brand awareness for CGC is in line with the group’s aspiration to be “The Household Name for SMEs by 2020.”
Since 1972, CGC has issued over RM63.5 billion guarantees benefiting over 330,000 small medium enterprises (SMEs).
“We are committed to serving SMEs at all our 16 branches nationwide including our main branch which is located near the CGC-Glenmarie LRT Station” Zamree added.
