8 p.m. - Global FC vs DPMM Brunei

Global FC resumes its campaign in the RHB Singapore Cup when it battles DPMM Brunei today in the first leg of their two-legged quarterfinals affair at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.

United Football League Most Valuable Player Rufo Sanchez and Azkals U-23 mainstay Mark Hartmann will reinforce Global's semis bid in the annual tournament that gathers some of the top Singaporean clubs and overseas counterparts.

The Loyola Meralco Sparks, on the other hand, begin their own semifinals quest tomorrow against Tanjong Pagar United at Queenstown Stadium.

Scottish coach Brian Reid is hoping that the retooled squad can hurdle the Bandar Seri Begawan-base side in the 8 p.m. encounter. The second leg is slated on Saturday at the same venue.

Sanchez joins Global on a one-month loan from UFL champion Stallion Sta. Lucia as one of its five eligible foreigners for the quarterfinals.

The Spanish striker scored 18 goals during the season and replaces English footballer Jordan Robertson, who scored in the team's 2-0 first round win over deposed champion Warriors FC last month.

Hartmann was signed by the team after two seasons with fellow Singapore Cup participant Loyola Meralco Sparks. He has represented the Sparks during the 2012 edition and the 2013 first round victory over Harimau Muda B (Malaysia U-19) in late-May.

Aside from Sanchez and Hartmann, the team can also count on Carli de Murga, Misagh Bahadoran, Jason de Jong and Ivory Coastian goalkeeper Roland Sadia

Brunei DPMM scored a 4-0 rout of Laotian side Lao Police FC in the first round. One of three foreign clubs in the domestic S. League competition, DPMM is ranked eighth in the 12-team table with 23 points.
