13 March 2012

The Outdoor Advertising Association of the Philippines-Cebu Chapter (OAAP) has pledged R50,000 to Globe Run4Home, the annual charity fun run organized by Globe Telecom aimed at raising funds for beneficiaries whose causes are geared at building sustainable shelter for the less fortunate.

Said ad group pledged such amount to help defray costs in the construction of homes for victims of Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro City (CdO).

"The model of Globe Run4Home allows people to see end results. We see the many faces who are helping and the output achieved. You may be just one runner among thousands and your contribution may be just one pebble but it makes a difference. Every bit helps. Every bit is needed, and everyone can make a difference" said Me'anne Solomon, OAAP-Cebu Chapter president.

Among four Globe Run4Home beneficiaries for this year, the ad group has chosen Habitat for Humanity Philippines (HFHP) which is currently building 6,000 houses in CdO. Each house costs R110,000. Habitat for Humanity Philippines (HFHP) is a non-profit organization that serves Filipino families in need of homes with the vision of transforming lives through building responsible and sustainable communities.

"We have been a partner of Globe Run4Home since the beginning and we are very thankful for that. The funds raised from this Globe Run4Home will be dedicated to our Sendong project in Cagayan de Oro where we are building homes for the displaced families," said Yvonne Lim, HFHP Chief Finance Officer.

Part of the race mechanics, allows runners to choose which beneficiary receive their contribution. Inspired by the possibility to make change, host-community Cebu has its local such as OAAP participating actively even prior to the event.

Being the President and CEO of OAAP, Solomon also generously volunteered free use of their electronic billboard with GREENWORLD to help promote Globe Run4Home.
