KUALA LUMPUR: A heavy downpour here yesterday triggered flash floods and caused Sungai Gombak to overflow its banks, inundating homes and forcing 157 people in Gombak to spend the night at two shelters.
Selangor Fire and Rescue assistant director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul, said the residents are from Kampung Sungai Serai and Kampung Melayu Sri Kundang.
The evacuees, from 23 families, are being sheltered at the villages' community halls.
"We are monitoring the situation and are ready to provide assistance if needed," he said. -- Bernama
